Abstract:   (42 Views)
In addition to affecting the health of city dwellers, air pollution also affects the growth and quality of trees in urban green spaces. Cultivation of plant species resistant to air pollutants has a great effect on improving the air quality of cities. Therefore, in order to investigate the amount of absorption of environmental pollutants and the resulting biochemical changes on some physiological indicators of locusts and plantain trees, an experiment was conducted in Mashhad city in 2018-2019. Sampling was done from trees of almost the same age in the summer season. Leaf samples were taken from each tree at the lower, middle and upper levels of the canopy and from the outer branches. Physiological traits included chlorophyll a, b and total, carotenoid, biochemical traits, some heavy elements and enzyme activity such as carbon hydrates, proline, protein, cadmium, lead, catalase, superoxide dismutase and peroxidase were investigated to determine the correlation with the absorption of environmental pollutants. The results showed that the amount of chlorophyll a, b and total, carotenoid decreased and the amount of carbon hydrates, proline, protein, cadmium, lead, catalase, superoxide dismutase and peroxidase showed a significant increase in acacia and plantain trees.
